Lacquer vs Wax Potting:
Both are used to seal the wire to avoid microphonic noises and squeals.

Wax potting takes 10 to 15 minutes to allow the wax to completely penetrate the pickup. This eliminates all microphonic noise and squeals.

Lacquer potting is a quick dip to seal the outside of the pickup wires and does not penetrate completely.  This does eliminates most of the microphonic noise and squeals while allowing the wire to remain free inside for a more high-end airy lively tone

Our Vintage '54 pickups are designed to replicate the authentic sound of early Fender Stratocasters, employing the classic formula that defined a generation of music. By utilizing Alnico III magnets, we ensure a warm and smooth tone while preserving clarity—a nod to the rich tonal heritage of the original Fender designs.

Our meticulous process begins with lacquering all bobbins for enhanced durability, and each pickup undergoes lacquer potting to eliminate any microphonic feedback or noise interference. Each pickup is hand wound and scatterwound to guarantee quality and performance. For optimal noise reduction in the 2 and 4 positions, our neck and bridge pickups are north up, while the middle pickup is south up and reverse wound.

We have dedicated extensive time to testing a variety of wires, magnets, and bobbins to deliver the highest quality pickups possible. Each hand-wound set comes signed, numbered, and dated, ensuring authenticity.
