The Migas Touch Story

The Migas Touch Story

I started playing guitar in high school back in 1976. My first guitar was a 1972 Gibson ES-335TD and the amp was a 1970 Fender Super Reverb. I was lucky to have what was one heck of a combination to start with and its one reason that I still enjoying playing to this day.

A few years back I started buying and selling used guitars and amps as a side gig. I would try to buy ones that needed some electronic work. It is crazy what people do to guitars when swapping out pots and pickups. So I spend much of my time buying old pickups and pots to rebuild them bringing those instruments back to their glory. Along the way I would fix damaged pickup and rewind them when needed, which brought me to the beginning of Migas Touch Pickups.

Having a knack for repairing and rewinding pickups I went on a mission, I bought old Stratocaster and Telecaster pickups and would take hours slowing unwinding them one wind at a time to see how they were spun and how many winds they had on them. I being searching for the best bobbins, magnets and wire and through much trial and error put together the best combination using all USA made parts. Once I was happy with products I put them in the hands of some family and friends to get feedback. I made some adjustments until I felt I was ready to put my pickups on the market. So far, people enjoy my pickups and it’s a great feeling when a customer loves something that I made.

I began as a one man shop and I now have the pleasure of working with my son and we are expanding into a broader range of pickups for Gibson, Epiphone and Fender. I have also expanded into custom pickups for my clients who are looking for a specific style or sound.
