In the original 1950s and 1960s Fender Stratocaster design, the bridge pickup was deliberately left unattached to any tone control. This allowed the signal to go straight to the volume pot and out to the amp, producing that iconic, biting, and treble-heavy "ice-pick" sound.
Below the images shows our Migas Touch Pickups Custom Fender Stratocaster Wiring we built for a customer with the bridge pickup attached to the number 2 or lower tone control. This allows the bridge pickup to be used in the number 1 and number 2 switch position on a 5 way switch. We use a CRL 5 way switch, CTS pots, era correct push back wire and a orange drop cap. This is available at our website along with standard wiring. Comes completely assembled as shown for a quick and easy swap out into your Strat.
Have you ever wondered why the bridge pickup on your vintage Stratocaster has no tone pot connected. Well it's because in the 50's and 60's Leo Fender’s intentional design goal for the Strat was to capture the bright, shimmering, pedal-steel-like lead tones favored in Western Swing music. Because amplifiers and guitar cables in the 50s naturally rolled off a lot of high-end frequencies, leaving the bridge pickup completely unburdened by a tone capacitor preserved every ounce of its piercing treble.
